VINEYARD

The Site

The vineyard is sited on a 250-acre, gently sloping hillside northwest of Mattawa, in Grant County, Washington, in the Wahluke Slope AVA. Bounded by the Columbia River and the Saddle Mountains, this wine-growing region produces some of the highest quality wine grapes in the state of Washington, or anywhere else.

Stone Tree Vineyard Topographic Map

“Stone Tree”, the name of the vineyard, is derived from the fact that there are a large number of petrified tree fossils found in the surrounding hills. This example has been identified as Sequoia, from the Miocene Epoch, 5 to 20 million years before the present.
